Lomi Lomi massage is an ancient Hawaiian massage and is performed by all massage therapists at Hawaiian Experience Spa. Because we offer many massages and spa treatments that contain some Lomi Lomi techniques we have created this summary page to help you choose.

How is Lomi Lomi different than a regular massage: Lomi Lomi is done on the entire body at once, unlike a regular massage that is done on one section of the body at a time (back, legs, etc.). During a Lomi Lomi you are only covered in a small towel (women can also have a second towel to cover the breast when face up). This allows the therapist to massage the entire body at once. All treatments below include some Lomi Lomi. During the Lomi Lomi portion you are only draped (covered) as described above.

Usually there is no bottom sheet on the massage table when we perform a Lomi Lomi. This allows the therapist to slide her hands and arms under you body. These underbody strokes are very unique and feel fantastic. Some of the massages below use a bottom sheet because they are only samples of Lomi Lomi massages.

What to wear: It is highly recommended that you do not leave underwear or any other clothing on. Anything you do wear will interfere with the long flowing strokes and will therefore diminish your experience. Your clothing will also get oil on it. Of course, you can wear underwear if you wish and it is less of a problem with the massages that are only partially Lomi Lomi listed towards the end of the list.

Types of Lomi Lomi Massage Offered

Treatments below are listed from the most traditional and complete Lomi Lomi massages to massages that are only partially or heavily modified Lomi Lomis. Click on any massage for more information.

Traditional Lomi Lomi Massage - This is the traditional Lomi Lomi and is recommended for anyone. Pressure is usually medium but can be deeper or lighter. Massage is done without a bottom sheet using only a small towel for draping. This massage is also available in a traditional couples version and a more romantic couples version.

Coconut Sea Salt Lomi Lomi Massage - This is the same as above except it is preceded by a sea salt body scrub and the Lomi Lomi massage is done with heated coconut oil instead of regular massage oil. This is available in a couples version.

Waikiki Therapeutic Massage - This massage is a combination of traditional Lomi Lomi and more standard therapeutic massage techniques. It is done entirely in Lomi Lomi style (no bottom sheet, minimal draping) but the therapist will stop and focus any problem areas more so than she will in a traditional Lomi Lomi. Many clients use this as their regular every month massage. Each session is customized with a mixture of Lomi Lomi and traditional techniques based on your needs that day.

Aloha For Lovers Massage - This is a couples only massage. It is basically a massage lesson where one of you learns to give a Lomi Lomi massage to the other.

Hawaiian Experience Massage - This popular treatment is a combination of hot sea shell, hot stone, and Lomi Lomi massages. During the Lomi Lomi portion the massage is done exactly like a traditional Lomi Lomi with no bottom sheet and a small towel for draping. See Couples Version.

Limu Lomi - This cellulite treatment is a special body wrap followed by a traditional Lomi Lomi done with special cellulite fighting oil. This treatment also can be done with a traditional massage instead of a Lomi Lomi.

Lymphatic Lomi - This is a relaxing and immune building treatment that combines a lymphatic drainage massage with a relaxing lomi lomi massage.

Couples Wiamea - An economical couples massage done lomi lomi style for part fo the massage.

Maui Relaxation Massage - This is similar to the O'ahu listed above except it comes in more lengths and has many extras such as hot towels, aroma therapy, and more. This is our most popular premium relaxation massage. Also available as a Couples Massage.

Lomi Lomi Video - This instructional and entertaining video was made at our spa by Steve and Nikki and is sold internationally. It makes a great gift for anyone who enjoys lomi lomi or Hawaiian music. The video was made to teach the basics of Hawaiian lomi lomi massage but many people purchase it just to relax as they watch the beautiful and flowing lomi lomi massage being performed.

This DVD is made to be instructional and entertaining. You can watch it as a way to relax or to learn the basics of this exotic form of bodywork. In this DVD you will learn from master lomi lomi practitioner, Steve Ibach, as he demonstrates the beautiful techniques of the lomi lomi massage on a young woman and fellow lomi lomi massage therapist, Nikki McDaniel. You will see the flowing techniques as Nikki receives a full body exotic lomi lomi massage to the music of Keali'i Reichel.
