Aloha! My name is Gary V and I graduated back in 1994 from Manalapan High School in Manalapan NJ. I graduate back in 2002 from Somerset School of Massage Therapy located in Wall Township New Jersey. The modalities I truly specialize in are Sports Massage & Deep Tissue Massage. Shortly after graduating from massage school I wanted to have the ability to help clients even farther on a different level, so I landed a job with New York Sports Clubs as a Massage Therapist who was cross trained into becoming a Personal Trainer Certified through National Academy of Sports Medicine. For almost 17 years I’ve devoted my life towards Fitness & Wellness. During the summers I would get rehired and work for White Sands Resort on the ocean front in Point Pleasant New Jersey.
Part of my journey for several years towards helping my clients achieve optimal health was becoming the Head Fitness Trainer of Bayshore Fitness & Wellness Center in Parlin New Jersey. Later on it became Robert Wood Johnson Fitness & Wellness Center which is affiliated to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital back east. With this particular company I was doing Massage Therapy including high volume Personal Training. More often than not my clients asked me rather than training for 60 minutes on the main floor if I could do Sports Massage instead to help them achieve optimal flexibility and reduce their soreness from previous workout regiments. I’ve always Incorporated passive stretches with every aspect of Personal Training/Massage because they go hand-in-hand.
After being out of massage school for well over 10 years I decided to move across the country to Arizona and I was told that I had to successfully pass the Nation Board of Massage exam prior to arriving and this would make me eligible to purchase an AZ Massage License. After spending a few weeks studying I successfully passed one of the hardest on-line massage exams I’ve taken in my life and became NCBTMB Approved. When I graduated from school back in 2002 the criteria was only 550 hours for my state so therefore I had a deficit that had to be corrected. Prior to moving to Arizona I also successfully completed a 200 hour Table Thai Certification coarse.
Massage Therapy has been a part of my life for 17 years and going strong. I believe very much in the power of touch. It’s an essential component to life and being connected with the world around us. I’m also a firm believer on continuing education and not being stale as a LMT and always learning different/new modalities. Sometime in the near future I would very much like to learn Craniosacral Therapy including a deeper understanding of Lomi Lomi Massage.
