Aina: Aina (pronounced EYE-na) means “land.” But when used in Hawaii is also often refers to everything that is part of the natural Hawaiian Islands. One could say the honu (green sea turtles) are part of the aina. Hawaiian culture has always focused on caring for and respecting the aina which includes the land, ocean and all animals and natural resources. It is very disrespectful to damage the aina.
