Update 2024: We’re delighted that you’ve stumbled upon our posts featuring the exquisite fine art photography captured in the beautiful landscapes of Hawaii. While we no longer offer these artworks for sale, we invite you to experience their stunning beauty in person when you visit our spa. Many of these remarkable pieces adorn the walls of our spa, adding a touch of Hawaiian enchantment to your spa experience. We believe that the spirit of aloha is best conveyed through the artistry of these images, and we look forward to sharing them with you during your visit. Mahalo for your continued support and appreciation of our unique Hawaiian-inspired offerings.
We hope you enjoy these images of this iconic symbol of Hawaii, the Green Sea Turtle or Honu in Hawaiian. Honu can be found on all Hawaiian Islands and the surrounding waters and come up on the beaches to rest. As you walk the beaches of Hawaii you may see a single honu or dozens together. In the attached photographs there are over 60 honu on a single Maui beach! According to the Maui Ocean Center, “They are the largest hard-shelled sea turtle in the world, reaching lengths of four feet and weighing over 300 pounds. Out of the seven types of sea turtle, the Hawaiian green sea turtle is the most common in Hawaiian waters.”
Always remember to stay at least 10′ from honu on land and do not block their entrance or exit area in the water.
Honu are very respected in Hawaiian culture and symbolize good health and safe travels among other things. There are three honu in the Hawaiian Experience Spa logo, each representing a point from our Spirit of Aloha Commitment.
